The Door
I INVITE YOU TO ENTER
Over the years, the simplicity of the Gospel has been obscured by the ignorance of man. Human beings, professing to be wise, have become fools, for they have exchanged the truth of God for the lie, honoring and worshiping the creature rather than the Creator (Romans 1:22; Romans 1:25). Nevertheless, to say Gospel is to say Good News for all men, even for those who in their ignorance have been seeking God by applying their own reasonings and traditions, which are nothing more than dead works and constitute an obstacle to the transmission of the clarity of the Truth.
The Gospel is simple; the Gospel is a person; the Gospel is Christ. He is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is the only means by which we can be saved. He said: “I am the door; whoever enters through Me will be saved” (John 10:9). And with those words, what the Lord wanted to teach us is how important it must be for us to draw near to Him, understanding that He is the only means by which we can enter the Kingdom of God.
The door represents a physical means used to pass from one place to another, from one environment to another. In the same way, the Word shows us that the same thing happens in the spiritual world. When we come into the Presence of the Lord and acknowledge Him as our Lord and Savior, we enter through the door that is Christ and immediately pass from death to life.
Jesus Christ said: “Truly, truly I say to you: He who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life; and shall not come into condemnation, but has passed from death to life” (John 5:24).
We can affirm that we believers have been transferred from darkness into the kingdom of light that is in Christ Jesus, because He is the light of the world, and he who follows Him “… shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” (John 8:12).
Therefore, I ask you: how can you say that you love and believe in God if you have not yet entered through the door? Jesus says in His Word that no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6); so I understand that if you have not used that door, you have not really entered. Therefore, hurry to enter, for one day many will seek to enter and will not be able, because once the Master of the house (God) has risen up and shut the door, you will never again be able to enter.
But there are those who, standing outside, begin to knock at the door, saying: “Lord, open to us,” and He, answering, will say: “I do not know where you are from” (Luke 13:25). Then they will begin to say: “We have eaten and drunk in Your presence, and You taught in our squares” (v. 26). But He will say: “I tell you, I do not know where you are from; depart from Me, all you workers of wickedness” (v. 27). At that moment, it will be too late for them, because one does not reach God by how much we have done or said before Him, but through the acceptance of the sacrifice of His Son.
Jesus Christ died for you and for me and lives forever, to save and to intercede before the throne of grace for all men who come to God through Him (Hebrews 7:25).
Once a jailer asked the apostle Paul and Silas: “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” (Acts 16:30).
And they said: “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household” (v. 31), because “… there is salvation in no other; for there is no other name under heaven, given among men, by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
This is the reason, my brother, why I invite you to enter through the door that God has opened toward heaven. Use that door, the door of His love and His mercy, expressed in Christ Jesus, who waits for you with open arms to do you good and to be with you for eternity.
